1999 Jeep Cherokee
The 1999 Cherokee is available in SE, Sport, Classic, and trim levels that comes
in either 2-door or 4-door body styles. It offers a base engine with 2.5-liter
4-cylinder is generating 125 horsepower, while the 4.0-liter with inline-6 generates
190 horsepower. The two engines can both be coupled with the five-speed manual
transmission, the inline-6 with the four-speed automatic, and the three-speed
with the four-cylinder engine.
It is offering options that include an Up Country off-road suspension group,
a wide variety of equipments enhancing the off-road performance of the vehicle.
The Up Country off-road suspension makes a Cherokee pull itself from a deep puddle
of water, however it makes the Cherokee a bit unstable on winds due to the absence
of the rear anti-sway bar. The knee of the driver gets too close to the transfer
case lever.
The Jeep Cherokee lacks refinement but its one of the most inexpensive sport
utility vehicle that feels like a truck on the market. It features color-keyed
bumpers and grille, sentry key anti-theft system, optional heated front seats
for the Limited Edition, and improved engine efficiency and revised electronics,
and new exhaust catalyst.
